Dr. Omar Ahmad Kachkar

Omar holds a phd in Business Administration ( Islamic Finance) from the International Islamic university Malaysia IIUM, MA in Islamic Banking, Finance and Management Loughborough Univerity UK, Diploma in Islamic Studies (al-Fateh Islamic Institute) (Damascus) B.A (Shari’ah) Al-Azhar University (Cairo). He did a placement Job as a product manager in the Islamic Bank of Britain (currently al-Rayan), and was a visiting scholar in Oxford Islamic Finance (Oxford Islamic Center). He worked in Shari’ah auditing and Shari’ah advisory with IFAAS. He was a lecturer and researcher in Al-Fateh Islamic Institute until early 2013. In Malaysia, he was a lecturer in USIM, IIUM and an RA for Islamic Economic Center and ISRA. Omar has presented a number of papers in local and international conferences on Islamic microfinance, cash waqf and micro enterprises. He has also published some papers in international journals. Main interests include Islamic finance, Shari’ah Standards, microfinance, micro enterprises and cash waqf.
